Incoming college students are faced with a dilemma in choosing which course to take when they enter the university. For the past years now, students have been studying the field of nursing.  There are a huge number of students who are studying nursing because of the fact that Filipino nurses are in demand abroad. Some say that taking the nursing course program is easy while others see it as one of the most challenging courses. In any kind of perspective, taking the nursing course is a good ticket for any individual who is planning to work and find career growth in another country. 

In the Philippines, a lot of nurses work in local hospitals to get the experience they need before they can work abroad. Hospitals and health care industries in other countries require a lot of requirements to these aspiring nurses. There are these licensure examinations and even English proficiency examinations. Let us discuss some of these things to help boost the careers of Filipino nurses abroad.

First, Filipino nurses can take the IELTS examination or the International English Language Testing System. This test is accepted in many institutions especially in countries like New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and some parts of the United States of America. Being an English proficiency examination, the IELTS provide Filipino nurses a certificate indicating their fluency in the English language represented in bands of scores from 1 to 9. Having this certificate ensures the health institutes that these aspiring nurses are able to understand and use English with fluency.

The NCLEX-RN of the National Council Licensure Examination is an examination taken by Filipino nurses to get a license in the United States. This license is needed as it serves as a permit for Filipino nurses to practice their profession in the state where they have met the requirements. Individuals who have a passed the NCLEX-RN demonstrates their competence in their field and be competitive in the nursing career. Taking the NCLEX-RN gives Filipino the advantage in getting a job in health institutes in the United States of America.

Another thing is the CGFNS or the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools. The CGFNS is an internationally recognized organization that is responsible for evaluating, verifying and providing license to nurses and health care practitioners in the world. This is a qualifying examination required from graduates in nursing schools that are not in the United States who are dreaming of attaining a job in the United States. The test will evaluate the candidates’ nursing knowledge and comprehension together with the utilization of the English language.

These examinations add credibility to Filipino nurses who want to be employed in companies and health care industries in the United States of America.
